Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I recognized that I have the ability to take complex concepts and make it work in a way others understand it best. I love taking the time to learn people for who they are and teach them where they are, while challenging them to become the best version of themselves.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was recently when I was requested to be observed by too educators from the Oakland County Schools for a STEM lesson. My students were EXTRA focused and engaged, at which I mentioned later to them, “How can we be like this daily?”. Their response: “We thought you were in trouble and wanted to make sure you looked good.” Best teamwork ever! Haha!

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000, I would take a needed vacation to be well rested away from work. Often, teachers go unnoticed with extra unpaid hours to ensure their students get the education they deserve. Then, I’d pursue an additional endorsement to further my credentials in EL and Math. I’d attend some conferences/PD that focuses on education for black and brown students to gain knowledge on how to service these students well in my school community. Lastly, I’d love to donate to a nonprofit organization.
