Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make a difference in my community. As a Hispanic, bilingual educator in Title I schools and a first-generation college graduate, I strive to open doors for students by showing them the opportunities I once didn’t know existed.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was watching my students not only learn to read and write in one language, but in two. Seeing them gain confidence as bilingual learners empowered them to see themselves as capable leaders and the future of our community.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would use the funds to support opportunities that positively impact my children’s educational growth and future success. As a single mother of four, this grant would allow me to provide enriching academic experiences, learning resources, and exposure to opportunities that foster curiosity, confidence, and perseverance. My goal is to ensure my children understand the value of education and see that their circumstances do not define their potential. This investment would help
