Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher after working in HR and seeing too many 18-year-olds enter the workforce unprepared for real life. They had ambition but lacked financial literacy, communication skills, and workplace readiness. Instead of criticizing the gap, I chose to close it. Now I teach students how to budget, interview, lead, and think beyond graduation, so they walk into adulthood confident, capable, and ready to succeed.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A few years after graduating, a former student came back to see me. He told me the financial literacy and professional skills we covered in class helped him earn promotions and grow within his company. What meant even more was hearing that he now helps others. Watching knowledge extend beyond my classroom reminded me that teaching isn’t about a semester it’s about forever.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would invest directly into career-connected learning for my students. Funds would support certifications, business attire for interviews, field experiences with local employers, financial literacy simulations, and updated technology for real-world projects. My goal is simple: remove barriers and give students access to opportunities they might not otherwise have so they graduate prepared, not guessing!
