Learn MoreI became a teacher because I saw how powerful one adult’s belief can be in a child’s life. I wanted to be the educator who builds confidence, opens doors, and reminds students daily that their voice, story, and potential matter. Teaching allows me to change the trajectory of lives through knowledge, love, and high expectations.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable moments was my first year teaching 1st grade. A student who once avoided books because she couldn’t decode or blend sounds transformed within months. Through consistent practice and encouragement, she went from hiding from reading to chasing books. She even gave up recess to sit and read to me. Watching her confidence bloom reminded me that teaching changes lives.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest in enriching classroom resources, student experiences, and literacy initiatives that expand access to books and hands-on learning. I would also support family engagement opportunities and create lasting academic programs that continue impacting students long after this recognition.
