Learn MoreI had a hard start to my personal educational experiences. I was retained in 2nd grade and it wasn’t until third grade that I was diagnosed by my eye doctor and school psychologist with the learning disability of Dyslexia. I didn’t learn to read until fifth grade and hated school. As I moved through my school experience I encountered teachers that had a positive profound impact on my learning and attitude towards it. I thought if I could do the same for just one student it would be worth it!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceWhile teaching students about photosynthesis in the science lab using water plants and heat lamps, they experienced seeing oxygen released in the visual of bubbles proving photosynthesis was happening prove to them it was science and not magic.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would establish a science lab with much needed materials at the elementary school I now teach at. Science isn’t really taught through students exploring and science labs in the elementary schools due to lack of funding and a focus on state testing in Reading and Math.
