As an elementary science teacher for 33 years, I have loved seeing the academic, emotional, and social growth of over 1,000 students!
Thank you for supporting Molly Harding in this year's competition. Your donations and participation will benefit The Planetary Society in their mission to advance space exploration, inspire discovery, and empower the next generation of innovators.
I come from a family of teachers. My grandmother and mother were both teachers. Both of my sisters and my brother are also teachers. I am passionate about teaching children because education is the one thing in life no one can ever take away from you.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable experience is teaching students that were both ELL and ESE and watching them fall in love with science and them working so hard to learn as much as they can. This group of five girls overcame obstacles every day just to get to school. All year, we worked together during any free time the girls had. We worked on science experiments and hands on activities. These five girls made so many gains academically and they became more confident students and children.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the money to plan a science field trip, possibly one to Key West to experience different hands on marine biology activities. My school is only a few hours from many great places:The Keys, Kennedy Space Center, Crystal River (manatees). One of these places would be a great learning experience.
