Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because my own role-model teachers made learning fun and meaningful, and I wanted to pay it forward. I aim to inspire curiosity and confidence, especially in students who doubt themselves. My classroom celebrates questions, embraces mistakes, and helps children feel proud and capable, shaping their futures and touching lives in ways that last a lifetime.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A shy student once nervously presented to the class, and for the first time, her voice was truly heard. She beamed with pride, became a role model for others, and carried that confidence into everything she did. Witnessing her transformation reminded me why I teach. Helping curiosity and confidence take flight is the most rewarding part of my job.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would upgrade and expand our middle school science lab materials to create a hands-on, interactive wonderland where students can conduct chemistry experiments, explore biology and physics concepts. I would put the $25,000 towards transforming an underused outdoor space into a living ecosystem for observation and investigation. All activities would align with standards, benefit students across the school, spark curiosity, and give every student memorable science experiences.
