I love teaching because I get to inspire young minds, build confidence, and watch my students grow every single day.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make a difference like my first-grade teacher did for me. When my dad got cancer, she showed me love and compassion, making me feel seen and important. She inspired me to help students feel valued, supported, and confident. If I can brighten even one child’s day or life, I know I’ve made a difference—that’s why I teach.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was helping a struggling student who started the year not knowing any letters or sounds. Understanding some of the challenges he faced at home, we worked hard together every day. The first time he read a book completely on his own was unforgettable. The joy and pride on his face is a moment I will carry with me forever.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would provide my students with books, hands-on tools, and enrichment activities to support learning and growth. I would also pay off some debts, including student loans I took to improve myself as a teacher, allowing me to focus fully on inspiring curiosity, building confidence, and helping every student feel valued and capable of reaching their full potential.
