I was inspired to become a teacher by all of the bad teachers I had while in school. Teachers who would just sit and want students quiet instead of up, active, and asking questions.

The most memorable experience happened over many years. I had two eighth-grade students whom I did not go easy on. I knew they were more than capable. When they went to high school the following year, I said they needed to be sure to invite me to their graduation, and they did. They tracked me down and invited me. Then, 4 years later I got another email inviting me to their college graduations. They said that I inspired them to do better, but they inspired me.

I am trying to develop the forensics program at my school. $25000 would enable me to ensure the students are getting a truly hands-on, real-life experience. I would love to offer a learning experience that students will carry with them. I could take the program to new levels.
