I became a teacher because education can change the direction of a child’s life. I create a classroom where students are seen, challenged, and cared for. We talk, reflect, and grow together. I help students build confidence, take ownership of their choices, and become accountable for what they create and who they are becoming. When they move from “I can’t” to “I did this,” they realize their voice, their work, and their future truly matter. I love seeing them start to believe in themselves!

One of my most memorable experiences was watching a student who struggled with confidence present a coding project they once believed was “too hard.” Over weeks of problem-solving, reflection, and encouragement, they shifted from frustration to ownership. The moment they stood in front of their peers and said, “I built this,” with pride changed everything. It wasn’t just about the project anymore, it was about growth, resilience, and realizing they were capable all along. Now they mentor others!

If I won $25,000, I would invest directly into my students. I would provide snacks so basic needs never distract from learning, and expand hands-on technology so every student can learn, enjoy their learning, and physically experience what they create hands on. I have so many students come to me for supplies, food, and help for simple things from school to home needs!
