Tell us why you became a teacher

I found I have a gift to explain and demonstrate in order for others to learn. I connect with my students and really care about them as a person and a student. My own gifts and talents make teaching fulfilling and I am passionate about ensuring each students’ growth.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when I had middle schoolers who could not read, then after my intense, structured instruction, they began to read! Slowly at first but they could see the improvement in themselves which intrinsically motivated them to continue learning, continue reading, continue motivating themselves and each other!! It fills my heart!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off some bills, pack up my husband and four rescue dogs for the summer, and tour the United States in our camper, sharing the beauty of our own country with the ones I love most. I’d take the entire summer to tour as much of the country as I could and even see friends and family around the country before coming home and starting another productive school year. Wow, what a dream that would be. If there is any money left over, we’ll do it again the next summer!
