Honestly, I did NOT set out to become a teacher. If you would have told me I would become a teacher 30 plus years ago, I would have laughed you under the table. I believe it was the natural progression from the various jobs and positions I was employed and volunteered in as a teenager and young adult that drove me to this profession. Once I entered into it, I found it to be my calling. As Tupac stated, I wanted to be able to spark the mind that changes the world.

My most memorable teaching experience did not happen while teaching. I happened after the scholars are no longer under my tutelage. Getting messages on Facebook along with pictures of how well my scholars are progressing in life is most memorable. To know that I had a hand in influencing three scholars to obtain PHD's one being Medical is exciting. To see a former student athlete who played for me celebrate his sons for winning a City Championship in Basketball is memorable to me.

I wouldn't be honest if I didn't say that I would use the money for a long needed vacation for myself and family. I would help my son, daughter, and myself pay towards tuition loans and save some for a rainy day. Most people might say they would give back to their students or maybe go back to school. That is well and good, but I don't think they are being truly honest. But hey who am I to say that.
