I became a teacher because I really want to make a difference for my students, especially the ones who need extra support. I like helping them build confidence and actually understand what they’re learning by meeting them where they’re at. I also want to help prepare them for life after high school with real-world skills and just making sure they know they’re capable of more.

One of my most memorable experiences has been working with students who are dealing with real-life challenges,things at home, cultural pressures, or feeling like they don’t belong. Some come in quiet, guarded, or completely checked out.But over time, just building that trust, listening, and really understanding them makes a difference. Seeing them slowly open up, start to engage,and finally say “I get it” hits different. Those moments stay with me because I know how much they had to push through

If I had $25,000, I’d put some into savings first just to make sure I’m good. I’d use part of it for my classroom like getting my students what they actually need. But honestly, a big part would go to supporting my cousin who was recently diagnosed with ALS and who I’m going to be helping take care of. That’s really important to me. I’d handle a few personal things too and maybe treat myself a little, but my main focus would be taking care of my people.
