Knowledge is power. The more you know, the more you can do. I quit school because survival was more important than education. Now I help others who have had to make difficult decisions.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI always ask students what their long term goals are. One young lady said she wanted to be a life guard. Now, that is a fine goal, but a year later when I asked her the same question, she replied, “I want to be a paramedic.” I asked her why she changed her mind. She told me that she thought that was all she could be! Fast forward a few years and she is now a paramedic.
What would you do with the $25,000?Purchase dry erase markers and boards for the classroom. We go through so many. Pay for GED tests for students who could not afford to take the tests. Set up a scholarship fund for those wanting to attend classes but could not afford it.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like America's Favorite Teacher, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
