I’ve always felt that investing into students means investing in our future. Kids don’t have to wait to grow up to change our world, their voices are what we need to hear NOW. Everyday in my classroom is a day of learning through joy, singing, & laughter.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThe other day we were singing about the planets. I just sat and listened to my third graders sing. Later that day at parent conferences, one of my tougher students sang that song to his parents in a beautiful voice and a smile on his face. I didn’t know how much he was picking up & my heart filled up. Our kids are taking in everything. I've had so many memorable moments throughout my career in education that started in 2004. Watching former students grow up & give back means everything.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I had $25k, I would pay off debt, donate to the Covenant House in Anchorage that houses homeless teens in our area, and put the rest into savings. I have 5 kids of my own with my husband. We live in Alaska and I work 2 jobs. Paying off debt would be a load taken off our shoulders and allow us to save more for our kids' futures.
