Tell us why you became a teacher

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. From the time I was little, teaching was my passion. I loved school—both for the learning and the incredible educators who inspired me. My mom used to joke that I had the smartest stuffed animals on the block because I’d come home every day and teach them whatever I had learned. Today, I am driven by that same spark. I love being able to support my students’ own love for learning and foster their growing passion for education every single day

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience was working with a student who was convinced they 'weren't a math person.' After weeks of trying different approaches, I related a complex word problem to their interest in soccer. When the concept finally clicked, their entire posture changed—from defeated to proud. That 'lightbulb moment' reminded me why I started: to be the same supportive bridge my own teachers were for me, turning a student's frustration into genuine confidence.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Winning would be life-changing. Due to health and personal challenges, I’ve had to work multiple jobs and tutor on the side to stay afloat. While I love teaching, the financial strain of balancing several roles is exhausting. This $25,000 would allow me to pay down bills and finally breathe. Most importantly, it would allow me to step back from extra jobs and pour 100% of my energy and focus back into my classroom, where my heart and my students truly belong.
