Melisia Huggins

I love teaching the children of the future. I believe in them and know that they will be the scientist, doctors and inventors. I enjoy!

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to give back and instill values in helping our children of the future. I want children to understand that they need an education and with getting an education you can be anything in life. Children come from different walks of life and the situation can be overturn with learning something new.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is the time I taught my seventh grade class about the plant and animal cell. We had to create a model and I had the kids bring in two different shape cakes. I brought the candies that were close to the different organelles. As we decorated the cake and placed the different candies. The kids had to mention the name of the organelle and it function. To my surprise the kids were able to retain and mention to me the meaning for each. I was excited to see.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would get some microscopes and animal specimen slides for the kids to enjoy for lab. I would invest in getting more lab materials so we could enjoy doing labs with every lesson. I would also get the kids more classroom rewards. This would be a great experience for them.
