Tell us why you became a teacher

My elementary teachers made me feel loved and seen. I wanted to be just like them since I was in 1st grade and now I also teach first grade, hoping to inspire my students just like my teachers did.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Every day is full of memorable moments. Each time a student makes a connection is an amazing experience- like when they point out a digraph or get excited when they hear MLK mentioned in an assembly. All the small moments are what make each day memorable. I get to see minds grow every day!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Give some to Vive, a local shelter for asylum seekers that I volunteer at because they do amazing work and have had many funding cuts lately. I would also use some to help pay off our mortgage since my husband and I just bought a house last year.
