Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of the incredible teachers who believed in me and made school a place where I felt supported and valued. Their encouragement had a lasting impact on my life and helped shape the person I am today. Because of them, I knew I wanted to do the same for others. I want to be the teacher who believes in every child, especially those who may not feel like anyone else does. If I can help even one student feel seen and supported it’s all worth it!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was two years ago when I advocated all year for a student to receive an IEP. I could see that this student was struggling and needed more support, even when it wasn’t immediately recognized by others. I continued to document, communicate, and push for the services that I knew would help them succeed. When the student finally received the IEP, it felt incredibly rewarding because I knew they would now have the support they deserved.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000, I would first pay off some personal bills to create greater financial stability. I would invest in my classroom by purchasing flexible seating and additional storage to create a more comfortable learning environment for my students. I would also donate a portion to support low-income students at my school through programs like our Friday food program or clothing assistance, and save some for the future.
