It feels like something I was meant to be. When I was a girl I role played teacher. In my adolescents I worked in child care and supported a special needs girl in the summer. Throughout my twenties I worked two jobs so I could afford to be a private preschool teacher. Now in my thirties I have completed my master's and am a certified autism special education teacher. There is barely a moment of my life I remember when I wasn't a teacher in some way shape or form.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI worked with a non-verbal high needs young girl with autism. She both tested me and showed me love daily. She showed me everything I was and everything I needed to be as an educator. The second year she got an AAC device and started communicating more effectively. One day I was sitting with her working and she said "hug", then proceeded to lean in and give me a big hug. This happened frequently after that. Watching her grow was the greatest blessing and accomplishment of my career.
