I love teaching because it empowers students to tackle new ideas with confidence so that they are equipped to make the world a better place.

Teaching was never not an option for me. No one in my family is an educator--in fact, none went to college. But I've always had a passion for learning and shared experiences. I believe strongly that knowledge is power. Why would I keep that power to myself? If I can better the world and meet some cool kids along the way, I will choose that path!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceEvery day is memorable in my classroom! If I had to choose, however, I would have to point to watching my first class graduate high school. I had had these students since they were freshmen. Watching them move on to their next chapters--each one so different-- made me realize in that moment the impact these students had on me as a professional and as a person.
What would you do with the $25,000?First thing I would do is supply my classroom. I work in a severely underfunded district (one of the most underfunded in my state), and I spend hundreds of dollars each year on classroom supplies for my students. I'd also donate to my Speech and Debate team! I would also like to put some towards higher education--one, because that's the only way to increase my salary in my district and because, two, I love learning and obtaining a higher degree is something I've always wanted to do.
