I love teaching because as a high school student, I struggled. I had amazing teachers to help me. I want to help others in the same way.

I became a teacher after seeing my sons go through speech therapy, 504 accommodations, and Individualize Education Plans. I knew I could help other students the way I help my boys through all the ups and downs. I knew most of the time, students just needed to know they had someone on their side, cheering for them to succeed.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI have new experiences everyday, just like all my kids starting to sing while doing their assignment, this past Friday. Last week, I had a previous student interrupt my class to make sure I knew he finished all his missing work, so he brought his grade up to a B. The one experience I always think back on is when one of my kids got into a fight. Before his mom could pick him up, he came to me and he said, "I am so sorry. I don't want to disappoint you." That moment taught me so much.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would put that money into saving to help my sons when they graduate, just as my parents did for me.
