Tell us why you became a teacher

Teaching has always been my calling. I come from a long line of educators: four grandparents and my mother, who showed me the lasting impact a dedicated teacher can make. Watching them shape lives inspired me to follow the same path. I became a teacher to spark curiosity, build confidence, and create a classroom where every child feels capable, valued, and motivated to reach their full potential.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was introducing Snap Circuits to my 6th graders and watching their faces light up as their creations worked for the first time. When a bulb glowed, a motor spun, or a buzzer sounded, the room erupted with cheers and high-fives. Their excitement and determination to keep building showed true curiosity and confidence. In that moment, science became real, hands-on, and unforgettable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would invest in both my growth and my students’ learning. I would use a portion to complete my master’s degree to strengthen my instructional practice and better serve my students. The remaining funds would expand hands-on science resources, including updated circuit kits and other STEM manipulatives, ensuring engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that spark curiosity and deepen understanding.
