I decided to become a teacher back in middle school because I knew I wanted to play a real role in shaping the future. I was blessed to have teachers who genuinely cared about their students, but I also saw friends experience the opposite—teachers who didn’t believe in them or invest in their potential. Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Although this is my first-year teaching, one moment has already defined my purpose. A student once told me they were ready to give up on school because they couldn’t see the point. Instead of dismissing it, I sat down and listened. We talked about college, trade schools, and the many paths to success beyond a traditional degree. What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use a portion of the $25,000 to pay down my college loans, allowing me to continue serving my students without financial strain. I would also take my 3-year-old son on a meaningful trip so he can begin experiencing the world beyond his neighborhood. As an educator and a father, I believe exposure shapes perspective—and perspective shapes possibility.
