I became a teacher because I believe meaningful change begins in the classroom. As a science educator in a bilingual setting, I strive to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence in my students. By empowering them to ask questions, explore evidence, and value their voices and cultures, I hope to help develop the next generation of thinkers who will strengthen and transform diverse communities.

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was teaching a blind student in Mexico. I learned Braille so I could prepare her assignments and grade her work. The process brought us closer and pushed me to grow both professionally and personally. It reminded me that great teaching often means adapting, learning, and doing whatever it takes to support a student.

I would invest the funds in expanding hands-on STEM opportunities in my bilingual classroom. The resources would support lab materials, technology, and real-world investigations that allow students to experience science through inquiry. My goal is to ensure that multilingual learners see themselves represented in STEM and feel empowered to become the scientists and innovators of the future.
