I wanted to create a lasting impact on the world. Perhaps one day we'll have the technology for time travel, and we'll be able to visit the future to avoid certain mistakes from happening. Until then, teaching is the closest thing I have to helping the children of tomorrow realize their potential.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI suppose this is recency bias but I’ve attempted to get my National Boards twice now and I have yet to certify. Notice that I said yet! My mom once submitted some work to the New Yorker magazine and they sent her a rejection letter…my mom framed it. I told my Kindergarteners this story this year to motivate them when they’re doing something challenging (it’s all about the power of yet) and I have my mom’s framed rejection letter in my classroom.
What would you do with the $25,000?I’d probably either use it toward my daughter’s college tuition or towards my wife’s tuition so she can go back to school and get her Master’s degree. You’re never too young or too old to learn something new!
