It's a blessings and I love it because I help students discover confidence, creativity and problem solving skills that last a lifetime.

In 10th grade I had Mr. Z., who was an English teacher and taught Shakespeare. He made me believe in myself and he always told me I mattered and that I could make a difference. We have been friends for almost 40 years now. His legacy continues through not only myself but other students I taught that have become teachers as well. Mr. Z. was there when I buried my father, when I was in the military, when I got married, when I had children and now grandchildren. He has been instrumental in my life.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable experience was when I presented my 5th grade students with putting George Washington on trial for a murder. The context of the trial came from history documents. However, Washington was never put on trial. We had authentic colonial clothing, judge, jurors, witness and attorneys. Students were coached by lawyers from our community and Pennsylvania Supreme Court Judge Max Baer came in and coached our lawyers and judges. The trials were broadcast locally in our community as well.
What would you do with the $25,000?I now teach in a makerspace with 7th/8th graders. With this money I would do the following: I would buy 3 new 3D printers and supplies, Class set of VEX Robots and storage carts, start an innovation fund for student passion projects, and new flexible furniture, mobile work tables, charging carts. I would also restock maker materials for students to work with.
