I love teaching special needs students because every small victory matters, growth is personal, and the impact lasts a lifetime.

I became a teacher to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives. I believe every child deserves someone who believes in them and supports their growth. Teaching allows me to help students build confidence, overcome challenges, and discover their strengths. Seeing students succeed—especially when they once doubted themselves—is what motivates me every day.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching moments was seeing a student who many teachers didn’t want in their class succeed. The student gravitated toward me, and I had the opportunity to support and encourage them. Watching that student later get a job and graduate from high school was incredibly rewarding and reminded me how powerful patience, belief, and connection can be in a student’s life.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won the $25,000 award, I would invest in resources that directly benefit my students, especially those with diverse learning needs. I would purchase classroom materials, sensory tools, and technology that support engagement and independence. I would also use a portion to expand opportunities for students through community experiences and life-skills learning that prepare them for success beyond the classroom.
