Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education can change a child’s life. I wanted to be the teacher who sees potential in every student, especially those who struggle academically or behaviorally. As a BEST teacher teaching social skills, I help students develop confidence, communication, and emotional awareness. My goal is not only to teach academics, but also to help students learn how to manage emotions, build relationships, and believe in their future.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was helping a student who struggled with behavior and confidence begin to believe in himself. At the beginning of the year, he often felt misunderstood and reacted with frustration. Through patience, teaching social skills, and building trust, he began to open up and learn positive ways to express himself. Seeing him successfully communicate with peers and take pride in his progress reminded me why teaching matters.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would invest in resources that support students’ social and emotional development. As a BEST teacher teaching social skills, I see how important it is for students to learn communication, self-regulation, and confidence. The funds would help create classroom programs, provide materials, and expand opportunities that help students build positive relationships, improve behavior, and succeed both academically and personally.
