I like building relationships with my students and keeping that relationship through high school and beyond. Plus cool science experiments!

Learn MoreI often helped out with our church youth group during summers when I was in college. I was told I do a good job of relating to kids (7-12 grade level). Started out as an environmental science major and then turned to secondary education biology. Was pretty nervous because I wasn't exactly a fan of school when I was a teen but I trusted those people who told me that...and here I am 29 years later. It's been a fun ride.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI always build good and lasting relationships with students every year. This one group of kids was real special. I had them as freshman and in my track team. As juniors and seniors they would eat lunch in my room (sometimes over 15 kids would hang out and eat together). We had a "last supper" meal in their last day with about 7 of them. Those meals continued over the summer. We would meet at a local restaurant and fellowship with each other. For years after we would meet and eat together.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use some of that money to take my wife on a much needed vacation. She is a very supported spouse. You know, teaching is not always fun and exciting (although I try often) and she has put up with my venting either about students or district issues. She is an amazing women. I would use the rest of the money to help students go on a Florida keys science trip. I used to take kids on these but lately students have had a hard time being able to afford it. One last trip would be great!
