Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and capable of success. I wanted to be the person who not only teaches academics, but also builds confidence, patience, and resilience. Watching students grow, overcome challenges, and believe in themselves is the most rewarding part. Teaching allows me to make a lasting impact while creating a safe, supportive space where all learners can thrive.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was working with a nonverbal student who slowly found his voice. In the beginning, he communicated through gestures and expressions, and every small step forward felt huge. We celebrated sounds, eye contact, and simple requests. Over time, his confidence grew alongside his language. By the end of the year, he had become one of the most talkative and outgoing boys in the class. Watching his transformation was a powerful reminder of patience and persistence

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would reinvest it into my special education classroom by expanding sensory resources, upgrading communication devices, and enhancing assistive technology to better support my students’ diverse needs. I would also fund family engagement initiatives and pursue professional development to strengthen evidence-based practices. This award would directly impact the students who inspire my work every day.
