I love teaching because it gives me the opportunity to support and reach a diverse group of students and guide them towards being successful

My philosophy as a teacher is that students learn best in an environment where they feel respected, supported, and challenged. I strive to create an inclusive classroom that encourages collaboration, diversity and the love of learning. I strive to reach all types of learners through differentiated instruction. I also feel it’s important to work the child’s needs not just in the classroom but with the family and community.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI work with children with special needs. It may seem simple but for me it’s the little steps that move towards significant progress that mean the most. It’s just the simple words “thank you” from parents that touch my heart in a big way.
What would you do with the $25,000?As a teacher, I would first invest in my classroom and school library with more diverse books and materials. I would also make sure that all the students had books to take home to read with their families in various different languages.
