Tell us why you became a teacher

It started when I was a first grader. I would line up my stuffed animals and teach them. I always wanted to help others and teaching helps me fulfill that passion.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A most memorable teaching experience is the year schools shut down. March 13th, 2020 was unknowingly our last day before most businesses shut down. Teachers were expected to teach virtually. We made it work. I feel that year I bonded with my students more than ever. In June of that year, I met with my class at a nearby park to wish them well for the summer. The kids excitement to see me and their friends face to face was priceless! I will never forget that year and especially that moment!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’m passionate about Project-Based Learning and would use the funding to support meaningful community-based projects that extend student learning beyond the classroom. I also plan to continue my education by pursuing an administrative degree. Additionally, since my son is graduating high school in 2027, I would dedicate a portion of the funds to help him begin his college journey.
