I love knowing my students are future leaders and inspirations and that I helped guide them toward who they’re meant to become.

As a child, I was inspired by a cartoon teacher who chose to understand his students instead of label them. While others saw troublemakers, he saw potential and became someone they could trust. That stayed with me. I wanted to be that kind of teacher too. Today, I teach with empathy, focus on my students’ strengths, and make sure they know they matter and have something meaningful to offer the world.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching moments was during the pandemic when I taught online for a year and a half without meeting my students in person. Wanting to stay connected, I went house to house to greet them, safely and from a distance. In a time filled with fear and constant news of illness, seeing their faces in person meant everything. Simply showing up for them during that difficult year is a moment I will always carry with me.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I had $25,000, I’d finally enjoy a summer to relax and recharge, something many teachers can’t afford. I’d treat my class to a fun party and share some with my teacher-friends by gifting supplies and purchasing online resources our grade-level team has always wanted. It would be a chance to refresh myself, celebrate my students and spread the blessing to others in education.
