I love teaching because I help build confidence in learning.

I became a teacher because I loved school when I was younger. I became a teacher at 42 years old because even with other jobs and careers, I knew that teaching was the place for me. I want not just my students, but other students to feel welcome and secure everyday. I believe education is very important and that college is not an impossible dream for anyone. My goal everyday is to spread confidence and kindness througout my campus. I want children to dream big and go for what they want.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI am a math teacher for 3rd and 4th grade. To me, this was the grade when school became harder. My most memorable teaching experience, is when I get to see that light bulb moment when a students gets it! When I explain something and I can see the wheels turning. Then suddenly, I see in their eyes that they go it. They have that moment that brain already knows the information.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would get a smart board for my classroom. I teach in a small title 1 and a smart board would be helpful for teaching and modeling math. I would take my family on vacation. My husband and two kids have really supported me in my journey. I work on summer school so we don't get chance to travel. A family trip would me my thank you gift to them.
