I became a teacher because I couldn’t stay comfortable in a system that lets kids fall through the cracks. I stepped in to be the voice they may have never heard, that they are worthy, capable, and not behind, just not there YET. I give it everything because I love them, and they deserve to believe that THEY GOT THIS.

One of my most memorable moments was when a third grader cried tears of joy after reading. I had pushed her, encouraged her, and refused to let her settle for “I can’t.” She looked at me and said, “No one’s ever told me I could read before.” That moment reminded me why I do this, because sometimes true belief is the first thing a child needs to succeed.

I’d use the $25,000 to remove barriers that keep my students from thriving. I’d create schoolwide, stigma-free access to essentials like clothes, shoes, and toiletries so every child can show up with dignity. I’d also invest in launching a reduced ABA and clinic in Sunrise, where services are scarce—so support doesn’t stop at the classroom door.
