Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education changes life trajectories. I wanted to be the adult who helps children see what’s possible. Teaching isn’t just lessons—it’s building confidence, voice, and resilience. I love watching scholars grow from “I can’t” to “I did.” Every child deserves high expectations, real support, and someone who refuses to give up on them. That’s why I teach.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was watching a scholar who struggled all year with reading confidently present her thinking to the class. She once avoided participation and doubted herself. Through small-group support, goal setting, and steady encouragement, she found her voice. The day she raised her hand and said, “I figured it out,” wasn’t just academic growth—it was confidence, ownership, and belief. That moment reminded me why I teach.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest it directly into my scholars and school community—expanding technology access, building hands-on learning stations, and creating interactive literacy and STEM experiences. I would fund enrichment opportunities, field experiences, and resources that make learning feel powerful and relevant. Every dollar would go toward increasing student voice, closing skill gaps, and creating opportunities my scholars deserve.
