Tell us why you became a teacher

I had a teacher who taught us that it was great to be curious about EVERYTHING. That is what makes you a great scientist and a well-rounded person. This teacher let us explore our curiosities in a fun and engaging way!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I was teaching an AP Environmental Science class and we were learning about Oxygen levels in water and pollution of our waterways. I started the unit with a trip to the waste management facility then tied that into water processing. We then did water testing of our own waterway. We then compared this to water that had raw meat soaking in it for a period of time to compare it to meat packing plants dumping waste. They were amazed and loved the trips!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Being a teacher is a dream and a passion, but doesn’t necessarily provide the means to invest in new things! I would use the money to explore more of my own curiosities through trips or paying things off that would allow me the freedom to feed my curiosity!
