Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I truly want to make a difference in children’s lives. I’ve always had a heart for helping others, especially students who need extra support and encouragement. I want my classroom to be a place where every child feels safe, valued, and capable. Teaching is more than a job for me it’s my purpose, and I am passionate about helping my students grow and believe in themselves.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was working with a student who struggled academically and behaviorally. I focused on building a relationship with them, offering encouragement and celebrating small successes. Over time, I saw a big change. One day, they proudly said, “I did it!” after completing a task they once found difficult. That moment reminded me how powerful patience, support, and belief can be in helping a child succeed.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded the $25,000, I would use it to invest in my classroom and my students. I would purchase engaging learning materials, technology, and resources that support diverse learners, especially those who need additional academic and behavioral support. I would also use a portion to create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels safe, valued, and motivated to learn. I would invest in my own professional growth so I can continue to be successful.
