Tell us why you became a teacher

I have always wanted to be a teacher because I truly believe my struggles as a student, even throughout college help me to see what many teachers miss. I also see a student not only for academics but how I can help build their confidence so they believe there are no limits if they are willing to put in the work.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had a year where every student in class had a disability and some pretty significant. I had an AP who consistely told me I was not doing enough and attacked my confidence. Due to my great support from my team I never gave up. I teach 3rd grade so the scores can hold them back. Every single student that year passed the FCAT. It put me back on track.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am going to retire after the next school year and was a single mom for over 30 years working many jobs but still rent. I live paycheck to paycheck and would it to buy a home and be able to take a breath and feel more secure.
