Tell us why you became a teacher

I had amazing teachers that impacted me in such positive ways when I was in school, and I wanted to have that kind of impact. I wanted scholars to have a champion that would stand up for them, engage them, and respect them…so I became that person!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The current teaching assignment I have allows me to watch scholars become bilingual. Watching them relate their struggles to people in books and movies is amazing. I watched my scholars watch a movie they had never seen before and they were so excited to see someone like them in the movie! They said…hey, that character is learning a new language just like us.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use it for my classroom. I am currently at two different low income schools and want to provide needed supplies for my scholars and take them on once in a lifetime experiences!
