Learn MoreI became a teacher because every student deserves someone who helps them grow academically and socially. I learned early that one teacher can change a child’s life. As a student with a disability, I had a teacher who truly believed in me and showed me I could reach my goals. I became a teacher to give my students that same belief, support, and inspiration.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experiences are the moments students realize they can succeed beyond what they imagined. One favorite was transforming my classroom into a dark adventure with a 20-person tent, flashlights, and math and science riddles. Students solved clues that led them to animals and rocks hidden around the room. When they finally reached the tent, their joy was unforgettable.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would expand our K–5 LEGO Club into a stronger STEM program. LEGO builds creativity, math, science, problem-solving, and social skills. The funding would allow us to buy more bricks, kits, and building platforms, preserve student designs, attend a LEGO convention, and travel to a LEGO-based STEM competition. It would give students the tools and experiences to turn big ideas into reality.
