I love teaching because it has allowed me to work with many different students from all walks of life. Teaching has been transformational.

Learn MoreMy journey to becoming a teacher started when I was in the 6th grade. I use to visit a friend of mine during lunch and recess. My friend could hardly walk, and she was confined to a wheel chair. Every day that I saw her, made me think of becoming a SPED teacher because I wanted to help those who were suffering. My friend looked like a beautiful baby doll and was a lovely young lady. And, although she would be in great pain some days, she never complained. I was inspired by this.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was when I taught at Xavier Prep School and hurricane Katrina hit. It was a very, very challenging time post Katrina. So, with that, the school leaders reopened the school and merged 3 Catholic schools into one building. It was called the MAX School, and many of the students who attended each perspective school, fought to find some form of normalcy by returning to New Orleans to attend. I was a teacher and the prom coordinator. The prom was amazing!
What would you do with the $25,000?Wow, great question. I would first have the taxes taken out. Then, I would pay a few bills. I would plan a nice second honeymoon for my husband and me. And, I would host a really nice party for my current 6th graders. If not a party, I would rent out a section of a nice theater for the students to see a great movie, refreshments included:)
