Lisa Davis

I love working with students who struggle and find my classroom safe and inviting. I teach those students with special needs and it’s fun!

Tell us why you became a teacher

I struggled learning to read and always wanted to be a teacher. I would make my dolls work packets with color pages and math pages. I couldn’t spell so I write if I can’t be a teacher I guess I will be a model.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I teach special education and getting students ready to be in the general education setting it the goal. I was so excited when a student that would be so mad and disruptive previously in the year was able to do work in their general education class with peers successfully!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would have weekly craft club. I am currently providing a craft club after school once a month that I fund myself. The kids just asked why can’t we do it every week. I said I can’t afford the supplies. I look forward to it each month and so do the kids. We did Origami this month and they got their own book and paper to keep practicing.
