Tell us why you became a teacher

As a young girl, my parents bought me a larger than life chalkboard and chalk. That’s when I began playing “school” with my pretend students, dolls. In my teenage years I began babysitting and helping those children with there homework and I knew teaching was the best fit for me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

While there are so many memorable teaching experiences, one that stands out is when I explained that reading is like “gossip”. Many students do not like to read a text, so when I explained that it’s just like having a gossip session, I gained more readers. Although it’s a small moment, it works every year.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I have three children that are finishing up their college careers. 25,000 would help with their college finances 💜 Of course a portion would go to my classroom💜
