I became a teacher to help create positive change in the world by inspiring children to be their best selves. I chose special education, working with students with autism, because I want them to know they can achieve anything in a world where many aspects can be very difficult. By finding different ways for them to approach learning, using hands-on experiences, and creating a safe classroom that feels like a home away from home, I help students build confidence and succeed in all areas of life.

My most memorable teaching experience was during Extended School Year (ESY) with the theme “Adventure Awaits.” In special education, some students may not experience activities like the beach or camping, so I brought those adventures into the classroom. We transformed our room into a beach, amusement park, forest campsite, outer space, and even a pool party. Seeing their smiles grow and imaginations expand as they experienced “summer adventures” together created unforgettable moments.

Continuing my education as a teacher can be costly. I am currently working toward becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and this funding would support my coursework, certification, and training. My goal is to expand my impact in special education and develop innovative approaches that better support students with diverse needs around the world.
