Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I watched my mom be an amazing, successful teacher and had such impactful and influential teachers in my life. Having them as role models help mold me into who I am today. I've always loved working with kids and since becoming a teacher, seeing them learn, have light bulb moments, and realize their own learning has just continued my reasoning as a teacher!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I've taught elementary music and also in the general classroom. The best, most memorable moments are when I witness my students using their talents and knowledge they've learned. When I have break through moments with my students, showing them they are capable of doing hard things, and recognizing their talents, that's the most memorable moments. Like when they come up to me, telling me they can read a book or that they read this book ALL BY THEMSELVES!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Personally, I would factor in a few considerations. I definitely want to use some of it for my family, because without them and their support, I wouldn't be able to be where I'm at today. I plan to also set some aside for my own son for him to use when he is older. I also would be happy to give some of it back to my students, using it for items in my classroom.
