Tell us why you became a teacher

I am actually a paraprofessional...I initially became one to have the same schedule as my children. Soon after I started, I knew it was what I was meant to do with life. I build relationships with the students and totally love what I do

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had a student who was struggling in class. One day I noticed him drawing instead of doing math...lol. I approached him about painting a mural in my room. Over the next three years he painted various parts of the mural tying it all together at the end of his 8th grade year. He talked about his dream of becoming a tattoo artist and using his talent for that. He did become a tattoo artist and makes incredible artwork for his clients. I have kept in touch with him and am so proud of what he has do

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would like to start a scholarship for students who are not your typical students. Ones that are stand outs in a trade or talent but do not choose a typical college pathway.
