Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because, even as a little girl, I loved helping others—especially children. I was inspired by the strong, positive relationships my teachers built with me and how they made a difference in my learning and confidence. I was blessed with teachers who encouraged and supported me, and I wanted to do the same for others. My sister always joked that teaching was in my blood, and she was right—it’s truly my purpose.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experiences are the moments of growth. I remember shy students finding their voice, struggling learners finally understanding a skill, and English learners reading their first sentence with confidence. I also cherish connecting with students who once struggled with behavior. Those breakthroughs remind me why I teach—because every child has the potential to grow, and I get to be part of that journey.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I win $25,000, I would buy land and build my own school. I’d teach preschool in a fun, hands-on, play-based environment where kids can explore, grow, and build strong foundations in literacy and social skills. My goal is to help every child feel confident, supported, and excited to learn, so they are ready for success in elementary school.
