Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love building relationships with my students. Creating a classroom where kids feel safe, supported, and valued is the most important part of what I do. When students know someone believes in them, they’re more willing to take risks, ask questions, and grow. Teaching math and science is rewarding, but the connections I build with students, the trust, laughter, and encouragement we share, are what truly make teaching meaningful to me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was with a student last year who I’m still close with today. We built such a special bond that I even got a tattoo of his artwork. Moments like that remind me why relationships in the classroom matter so much. When students feel seen and valued, incredible connections can form. I know that bond will last a lifetime, and it’s a powerful reminder that I’m truly making a difference.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000 for my classroom, I would focus on creating more hands-on learning experiences for my students. I would purchase STEM kits and materials that allow students to experiment, build, and explore scientific concepts in a meaningful way. I would also invest in flexible seating to create a comfortable, collaborative classroom environment where students can work together and stay engaged. Any remaining funds would be used to support students in need.
